One of the neatest things the Acer One includes is a multi-gesture touch-pad. Now I know: multi-gesture touch-pads are coarse and roughly every store laptop worth its salt features one. But the Acer Aspire One Aod255-2509 features something a petite dissimilar with its touch-pad in that it can unquestionably be disabled with one button. It's a very versatile touch-pad, too, allowing for pinching and squeezing and all sorts of hand motions. We're still talking about the touch-pad, right?

Toshiba Mini Vs Acer Aspire One Netbook

Although these the Toshiba Mini and the Acer Aspire one are currently two of the best selling netbook models in the market, I am going to put it straight out that the Toshiba Mini is a much best 10.1-inch netbook especially in terms of functionality and performance.

The Toshiba model has a 1.66Ghz processor while the Acer netbook has a 1.6Ghz processor. Besides this difference, both models have similar specs that contain 1Gb of Ram, a 160Gb hard drive and a 6-cell battery. There is where the differences end.

1gb

The new Toshiba netbook has so much to offer in terms of features and many of which are not found on the Acer Aspire One. For instance, Besides having a 6-cell battery, the battery on the Toshiba model can last up to 9 hours on a particular fee compared to Acer's usual 6 hours. Someone else unique highlight is that you can also fee Usb devices on the Toshiba model even when the Toshiba mini is off or on standby mode.

Another major discrepancy can be spotted in the fabricate of these two models. The Acer Aspire One comes in a collection of colors and have a glossy external casing. The Toshiba Mini too comes in a collection of colors but they have a matte external glossy that does not get smudges and fingerprints as easily. There is even a brown Toshiba netbook model. Overall, I think that the Toshiba Mini has a best fabricate as it feels more solid and has a more refined, professional look.

1Gb Or 2Gb in a Netbook - Is There a Difference?

First of all you need to resolve if you can spend twenty dollars on something that may or may not boost your netbook's performance. There are programs that will work faster but then there are those that are not affected by more ideas memory. If you read this report you should be able to resolve if you need more than the default estimate in netbooks.

Why 2Gb, can't you just slap in a 2Gb module and forget the whole thing? Unfortunately you can't, for multiple reasons. 2Gb So-Dimm Modules are more expensive. Not that it should matter if you absolutely need the extra memory, but in a computer that's worth 0 new it doesn't make much sense to spend an extra on something that would not make things go faster.

1gb

Not only that, but Intel's 945g chipset often used by netbook manufacturers only supports up to 2Gb memory. The processor paired with this chipset is often an N270 or N280 atom, both 32 bit processors. They physically cannot run software that can use more than 4Gb memory, and the next logical step would be to sustain 4Gb. So there are software limitations in place, too.

Unfortunately Intel doesn't seem to be keen on lifting this limitation as their most recent Atom N450 processor that has a memory controller installed accepts up to 2Gb as well.

Where does 2Gb make much difference? You would absolutely observation that things go more smoothly while you do many things simultaneously. When working with only one or two applications at once you don't often reach 1Gb memory use that would clarify having more, and even if you do, Windows takes good care of the qoute with virtual memory.

Using the hard drive to store foremost data instead of the Ram slows processes down a little, but unless you often convert between applications that have a total memory requirement more than 1Gb, you won't observation a things. In games and scientific applications you won't observation much of a distinction either, mainly because the bottleneck of the ideas is not in the estimate of available memory, but the speed of data processing, which is the processor's department.

There are some people who take a separate approach in the question. They install the extra memory anyway, because one 1Gb Ddr2 So-Dimm stick used in netbooks these days costs about . The way of their thinking follows the logic that they can buy it so why shouldn't they?

The approach you take is entirely up to you, but given that to reach the maximum estimate you have to pay less than ten percent of the total price of the computer it doesn't make much sense to turn over over the interrogate much. If you run many applications simultaneously buy the extra stick, if you don't I wouldn't bother.

Cheapest Netbook

If you're finding for the cheapest netbook you can find let me just say that you'll sacrifice carrying out and features that will advantage your computer needs long term. First let me address Ram (random access memory). Ram is basically a temporary work space the computer uses to do its work. Not having enough Ram means the computer has to take more time to process because it runs out of memory warehouse as it works. Many netbooks have 1Gb of Ram, but 1Gb just isn't cutting it these days as memory demands increase. I highly suggest at least 2 Gb of Ram especially if you want to keep your netbook for more than 2 years. The cheapest netbook you'll find will probably only have 1 Gb of Ram.

The cheapest netbook you'll find will probably have around 160 Gb of hard drive space. This is not bad, any way for peace of mind and to save disappointment of hard drive space down the road I suggest getting one that has at least 250 Gb. This assures you that you'll keep up with technology for much of the life of your netbook and you may not ever need to buy a separate external hard drive which can be pricey.

1gb

The cheapest netbook you'll find probably will have a short battery life. There's a good opening the battery life will only be about 6 hours. You unmistakably want to shoot for a netbook that gives you at least 8 hours of battery life. After all, one of the main purposes of a netbook is the ability to use it while you're out and about and ordinarily there is no electrical outlet around.

I highly suggest if you're in the shop for the cheapest netbook that you reconsider spending a little more (around fifty to a hundred dollars more) so you are rest assured that your computer will be able to keep up with the demands of technology.

Pink Laptops - Acer Aspire One Aoa150-1690 8.9-Inch Pink Netbook

Although it is of general consensus that Asus is the pioneer of mini-laptops/netbooks, Acer is moderately but steadily establishing itself as formidable competitor for the Asus Eee series. The Acer Aspire One Aoa150-1690 8.9-Inch netbook was one of the best-selling netbooks last year and shows no signs of decline in 2009. Here is a quick recite of this model in Pink.

There are only a handful of laptop manufacturers out there that produces pink laptops. Even if they do, the shade of pink that is use is always quite obvious from other models. The pink Acer Aspire One Aoa150-1690 8.9-Inch netbook boasts a darker shade a pink. It is not a completely pink laptop as the frame around the scree, the sides and the keyboard, is white in color. The outer casing has a slightly glossy pink covering with the Acer logo discreetly etched on one of the corners.

1gb

Personally, I would much prefer if the netbook was in completely in pink. But then again, that may make it look too much like a toy. Don't be fooled by its casual appearance as its pretty casing bellies a host of impressive features.

For starters, it runs on Intel's Atom Processor (1.6ghz) and has 1Gb of Ram (upgradeable to maximum of 2Gb). This gives you more than adequate processing power as the netbook runs on Windows Xp home (like all other netbooks). It is wi-fi ready and comes with a web cam for video conferencing. It has a 160Gb hard drive and a 3 cell battery (lasting up to 2.5 hours on a particular charge). For longer battery life, you can always upgrade to a 6 cell battery.
